Campbell Engineering Builds on Success with High‑Performance Machining
Jay Campbell, owner and CEO of Campbell Engineering, describes how his family-owned company has evolved from job shop into contract manufacturer as its current clients ramp up part quantities. The company has been able to expand its capacity and shift its business model, thanks to investments in high-performance machining technologies, including a Makino PS95 vertical machining center and a51 horizontal machining center. These high-performance machining centers have enabled the company to cut 60 to 70 percent more aggressively than the other machines on its shop floor. It has also observed a decrease in setup times and easily holds positional tolerances of plus or minus 0.0005 inch for the medical parts that it makes.
